FIRE DANGER
Harris County Emergency Services District 16, Klein Fire Department (“HCESD 16” or “KFD”), alongside regional mutual aid partners, responded to a devastating 2-alarm apartment fire early this morning. Thanks to the heroic, rapid actions of law enforcement, civilians, and arriving fire crews, dozens of lives were saved under extreme conditions.
INCIDENT SUMMARY
RESCUE OPERATIONS & CASUALTIES
Firefighters faced heavy fire and rapidly deteriorating conditions upon arrival. A total of 13 civilian patients were impacted:
FIREFIGHTER INJURIES
Due to the intense heat and punishing fire conditions, 5 firefighters were treated on scene for possible smoke inhalation, dehydration, and other heat-related conditions. All firefighters are expected to recover.
DISPLACEMENT & DAMAGE
The fire heavily damaged the structure that housed eight 3-bedroom apartment units. Approximately 25 residents have been displaced. Emergency management, the American Red Cross and other relief resources are working to assist these families.

An incident of this magnitude requires seamless teamwork. Klein Fire Department extends its deepest gratitude to the agencies who answered the call and worked side-by-side to control the blaze and care for the victims:
INVESTIGATION
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Investigators from HCFMO and law enforcement detectives were actively on the scene.
